The Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife recently adopted temporary rules for the conservation of sturgeon in the Gilbert River. Effective April 16, anglers will be restricted to the use of artificial flies and lures when fishing on the Gilbert River; no angling with bait will be allowed. Texas CWD Sampling Effort Leads to Proposed Containment Zone Expansion  Texas remains vigilant in monitoring and testing for chronic wasting disease, with no reported spread beyond existing containment zones over the last 12 months. However, the discovery of CWD in a free-ranging whitetail near the perimeter of the disease containment zone in south central Texas has led to a recommended expansion of that zone. The Louisiana Wildlife and Fisheries Commission (LWFC) passed a declaration of emergency closing the upcoming turkey hunting season on Dewey W. Wills, Grassy Lake and Richard K. Yancey Wildlife Management Areas (WMA) during its monthly meeting Wednesday (April 3) in Baton Rouge. More than 184,000 freshly stocked rainbow trout will be available when anglers cast their lines on the opening day of trout season this Saturday, April 6, New Jersey DEP Commissioner Catherine R. Delaware’s month-long spring turkey hunting season opens Saturday, April 13 and runs through Saturday, May 11, DNREC’s Division of Fish & Wildlife announced. Hunting hours are a half-hour before sunrise until 1 p.m. Monday through Saturday.
